The man who taught us all how to score a fight has passed away from cancer at the age of 79. "Jim, I gotta tell ya," made me laugh every fucking time. Legend.

Lederman was awesome. Iconic. I agreed more often than not with his cards.

His two best we’re probably 114-114 for Tito-Oscar, and 115-111 for Castillo-Mayweather 1 and I agreed with both.

He was a boxing icon. He usually favored the aggressor even if he was ineffective but he was good at his job RIP

damn. this legit saddened me. he did favor ineffective aggression a bit to much for my liking. but great card or erroneous card he was great at his job and was extremely well spoken and definitive with his opinions. honestly, im appreciating the entire old school HBO crew alot more now that they're not around, cause everyone else outside of Showtime absolutely bombs with their commentary and production.

RIP Harold Lederman.

Once in a while they would mention that Harold was a pharmacist, like that was his day job during the work week, and I used to love when this happened because it would inevitably be due to a corner fucking up with stopping a cut. Then Harold would overenthusiastically explain the minutia of coagulants, and which were the best for that particular cut, absolutely beaming that he was getting extra mic time talking about something he obviously had a lot knowledge and passion for. It was like when a child knows the answer to a question and can't wait to answer it. "Jim, they're using da wrong coAGULANTS!" in that Harold Lederman voice (probably the first impression I ever attempted doing because it was impossible to hear that voice and not want to do it).

Even more occasionally, Harold would slightly lose his temper. I think it was during Tito-Winky, Tito threw a few low blows and the ref didn't even warn Tito and Jim and/or Larry were playing the devil's advocate and Harold goes, "Fa Christ SAKE, if you keep hitting someone low, the referee has to AT LEAST warn da guy!" I fucking lost it at the, "For Christ sake," in that sing-song cadence. Think about it all the time.

When he told Floyd he'd kick his ass if he were younger... Was classic shit.

If I had to say one thing, it's that I enjoyed listening to him calling fights and listening to him made it feel as if it was "The fight" to be watching... Hard to explain, he had that ppv swag.

Seems in his later years his cards were more erratic.

nothing wrong with being critical and truthful about someone who isn't here with us. nobody is perfect. but as mentioned already he was great and entertaining at his job regardless of what his scorecard read.

Are you saying over the course of his entire career that his scorecards were whack?

probably more towards the latter part of his career as Ice mentioned. but i clearly recall more than a few times being perplexed by his scoring. and like Aneed said, it was because of his affinity for come forward aggressive fighters even if it was ineffective. I love aggressiveness and brawls and such but i dont give as much credit for ineffective aggression the way he did.

Lol truth’s at the wrong funeral.

RIP Letterman. His scoring would drive me nuts at times, but I learned to appreciate him as I got older.
