On Wednesday, June 30, The Kronk Gym Foundation will hold their 2nd Annual Fundraiser. And be joined by Jr. Middle Weight Champion Miguel Cotto, Philip Anselmo formerly of Pantera and Detroit's own Aretha Franklin. The event will include Dinner, Awards, Amateur Boxing, Live and Silent Auctions, all for a good cause. To celebrate its storied history and to raise money so it can help even more kids, the proceeds from this event will help continue to keep the gym open by contributing to the gym's operational needs. The gym is located at 19239 West Warren Ave. Detroit, MI, an average of 40 youngsters train at the Kronk Gym daily.

London, England – Some of the world’s top boxers were today drafted into twelve World Series of Boxing (WSB) squads following an International Boxer Draft, held in London. Following the boxer draft the Team Draw was held to determine the final competition schedule, revealing when the teams will compete against each other in their conference from the start of the WSB Regular Season on November 19th this year.

Colorado Springs, Colo. – The 2010 USA Boxing National Championships participants have been finalized following regional tournaments throughout the United States. Nearly 300 of the United States’ top amateur boxers in both the men’s and women’s open divisions will convene in Colorado Springs for the event, which is being presented by the Daniels Fund and co-hosted by the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation.

Los Angeles - Back on the road to a world title shot, bantamweight contender Jose Navarro will headline the next edition of Golden Boy Promotions' "Fight Night Club" in his hometown of Los Angeles on Thursday, July 22 at L.A. LIVE's Club Nokia in a six round fight. The co-featured bout on the hit monthly boxing series will be what promises to be a bantamweight war between Montebello's Nestor Rocha and San Diego's Benji Garcia in a six round battle.  Opening up the telecast, Jamie Kavanagh will make his second appearance on "Fight Night Club" against an opponent to be determined in a four round fight.  Also in action will be unbeaten East Los Angeles junior welterweight prospect Ramon Valadez against Los Angeles' Oscar Andrade and Van Nuy's Jesus Rodriguez taking on LA's Luis Martinez.

A headbutt in the fifth round enabled super featherweight Eduardo Escobedo to take a technical decision victory over Colombian Aristides Perez in the main event Saturday at the Centenarian Stadium in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico. It was a war from the first round which was controlled mostly by Escobedo with his better boxing. Escobedo is now 28-3 (19); Perez falls to 17-2. Also on the card, former lightweight world titlist Juan Carlos Salgado dominated Guadalupe Rosales to a ten-round decision.

Former Olympian McJoe Arroyo and cruiserweight prospect Carlos Negron will see action on the undercard to featherweight champion Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez, who defends his WBO title against Bernabe Concepcion on the the 10th of July in Puerto Rico. It will be Lopez's first defense in his first defense as part of card being put together by Top Rank in association with PR Best Boxing Promotions, which will be transmitted through the U.S. by Showtime.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. defeated John Duddy Saturday with a clear 12-round unanimous decision victory at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Chavez had much to prove going into the night and hoped that the help of a new trainer, esteemed Freddie Roach, could help him make his point. It was the biggest test in Chavez's career, and in the end, he showed that he is in the sport to do more than live off his father's name.
