In attendance were both main event fighters, David Tua (51-3-1, 43KO's), Monte Barrett (34-9, 20KO's), and their camps, Star Boxing President and CEO, Joe DeGuardia, Cedric Kushner (Tua's promoter), as well as many of the event's sponsors and an abundant of media.

ST. LOUIS—Don King has added another world championship bout to his “Gateway to Greatness” card on Aug. 7 in St. Louis, which is now a world championship tripleheader. King had said he would move the IBF junior middleweight championship featuring titleholder Cory Spinks against IBF mandatory challenger Cornelius “K9” Bundrage—originally scheduled for June 12— to Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Aug. 7.  He made it official today by adding the 12-round match to his existing twinbill that showcases two undefeated world champions.

PROVIDENCE – Cruiserweight contender Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey (20-1, 10 KOs) challenges World Boxing Organization champion Marco “Kapt’n” Huck (29-1, 22 KOs) on August 21 in Thuringen, Germany. A former U.S. amateur star, the 29-year-old Godfrey from Providence has been training in his native Rhode Island and nearby Connecticut for the last seven months in preparation for his first world title shot. Matt originally was supposed to fight Steve Cunningham last March for the vacant IBF title, but a series of date changes and miscommunications led to that fight being canceled.

Golden Boy Promotions believes that it is important to report the true facts concerning its 90 day suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission. On July 9, 2010, Golden Boy learned that it had been suspended by the NYSAC for a period of 90 days.  Although Golden Boy respectfully disagrees with one of the Commission's charges - that there was dishonesty on the part of a Golden Boy employee - Golden Boy does acknowledge that a number of significant, but innocent, mistakes were made in failing to make timely responses to legitimate information requests from the NYSAC.  Golden Boy has now made all requested disclosures to the NYSAC.

In the main event WBO light heavyweight world champion Jürgen Brähmer (36-2, 29 KOs) will defend his belt against reigning WBO-Europe champion Alejandro Lakatos (31-5-2, 23 KOs) of Spain. The 36 year old Lakatos had already faced former WBO light heavyweight champions such as Dariusz Michalczewski, Zsolt Erdei and Hugo Hernan Garay. Brähmer who comes off a spectacular win over Nicolas Plotinsky has a KO ratio of 76 % while the Spaniard has a 60 % knockout ratio.  “He’s very experienced, a compact kid, very strong. I saw his fight against “The Tiger” (Dariusz Michelczewski) in 2001 because I boxed on the same event. If I concentrate on outboxing him, nothing should go wrong,” Brähmer said.

It took less than six minutes for WBO featherweight world champion and Puerto Rican star Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez to dispatch an outmatched Bernabe Concepcion on Saturday night at Coliseo De Puerto Rico in Hato Rey, just outside of the capital city of San Juan. After four knockdowns in the explosive—albeit short—fight, referee Luis Pabon halted the bout at 2:37 of round two, awarding Lopez the TKO to the delight of his hometown fans.

Mexican prospect Saul Alvarez (19, 154 pounds) stopped Argentinean Luciano Cuello in the sixth round Saturday before a filled VFG Arena in Tlajomulco, Jalisco, Mexico. Alvarez improves his record to 33-0-1 (25). Cuello falls to 26-2 (12).
